Laboratory Institute Inducts 101 Graduands in Jos Varsity

The Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology, on Friday, inducted 101 Science Laboratory Technology graduates of the University of Jos.

Addressing the graduates, the Director General of the institute, Mr Yemi Gbademesin, described the induction as part of the institute’s mandate.

Gbademesin called on the inductees to be professional at all times.

He also advised them to abide by the ethics of the profession

”As our new ambassadors in the profession and certified professionals, I want to advise that you should actively and consciously listen and affirm to the oath, and commit to heart, the code of ethics of the profession.

”You should assert yourselves and protect the image of the profession in all your endeavours.

”As professional members of the institute, you should align your skills, technical competencies and pieces of training in dealing with laboratory services, more especially those in the area of biological sciences,” he said.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Tanko Ishaya, represented by Prof. Patricia Wade, advised the inductees to be good ambassadors of the university.

He also advised them to be diligent and God-fearing in discharging their duties, adding that their actions would be an assessment of their training in the university.

”As technologists, you have a lot to do for the growth of the healthcare delivery.

”The mistakes you will make can cost someone’s life.

“Please be professional at all times,” Ishaya said.

The Dean, the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the university, Prof. Nestor Chagok, represented by his Deputy, Dr Mary Kagoro, said the graduands belonged to the 2020/2021 academic session.
