Reports had claimed United had been put off by Napoli’s huge asking price which is believed to be in excess of £90million.

The Blues however are prepared to include bonus payments in the final deal.

Meanwhile French midfielder Blaise Matuidi has completed his move to Inter Miami after leaving Serie A champions Juventus.

Matuidi had one-year left in his current contract with Italian giants but both parties agreed to terminate his contract early.

The 33-years-old joined Juventus from French side PSG in 2017 and won three consecutive Serie A titles and one Copa Italia with the club.

On Thursday Inter Miami revealed Matuidi as their new player.

“I couldn’t be happier to welcome my friend Blaise to Inter Miami. He is an exciting and gifted player and a great person,” said Miami co-owner David Beckham, who played alongside Matuidi at PSG.

“To have a World Cup winner of Blaise’s quality in our new team is such a proud moment – for us as owners and for our fans.

“For me, to have a former team-mate joining our club is very special and I can’t wait to welcome him and his beautiful family to south Florida.”
